Pinoy Pop Superstar (PPS) Year 3 contenders conquer Cebu

Cebu played gracious host after Pinoy Pop Superstar (PPS) Year 3 made the Queen City of the South its last stop.

The event capped the almost two-month road show which saw Joyce Tañaña (Pampanga), Marvin Gagarin (Nueva Ecija), Jennie Escalada (Navotas), Maricris Garcia (Caloocan City), Miguel Naranjilla (Malabon City), Bryan Termulo (Bulacan), John Louie Abaigar (Olongapo City), April delos Santos (Pampanga) and Jae Buensuseso (San Francisco, California), all contenders in this year’s edition of Pinoy Pop Superstar, visiting key cities in Luzon and the Visayas.

In the two-day sojourn, the finalists were introduced to the local press and had a chat with their fans when they dropped by SM City Cebu’s record bar to promote their album, produced by GMA Records. The grand contenders stayed for autograph signing and photo-op, after which they were ushered to the V-Hire Terminal, venue of the main event.

Oblivious of the heat and tight space, Cebuanos came in droves and packed the V-Hire Terminal of SM City Cebu and eagerly waited for Joyce, Marvin, Jennie, Maricris, Miguel, Bryan, John Louie, April and Jae.

The finalists reciprocated the overwhelming welcome as they participated in on-ground games the production people prepared for the event and switched to their thrilling performance-level selves come show proper.

Cebu also welcomed PPS host Regine Velasquez with a lusty applause and surprised Jaya, Danny Tan, and guest judge Ronnie Henares with an equally hearty greeting.

Finalists were asked to perform ballads, allowing the regional audience to see their other side up close. The judges agreed that with the PPS finals just a few breaths away tomorrow, June 2, at the Araneta Coliseum, the contenders just kept on impressing them.

Regine lauded the finalists for their hard work and for surviving the grueling eliminations and semis.

She was joined by Jonalyn Viray and Gerald Santos, former PPS champions, who co-hosted the last leg of the regional mall tour with Yasmien Kurdi.

At the end of the mall show, Joyce and Bryan bagged the Superstar for the Night title.

The ratings garnered by the grand contenders will be included in their over-all rankings at the grand showdown.

It’s bound to be an exciting finale wherein the best of the best will battle against each other. Source.

Pinoy Pop Superstar grand showdown

Pinoy Pop Superstar controversy

WE saw and heard the nine finalists for the search in Pinoy Pop Superstar hosted by Regine Velasquez at GMA7’s Studio 3. One finalist is from the U.S. who made a stir during the final choosing by the organizers in San Francisco saying there was a scam and she’s not the deserving representative to the Manila contest. She was Jae Buensuceso of San Francisco, California.

In our interview, she said, she’s aware of the controversy. All she did was to be calm and composed and show her worth. “I can’t back out simply because of the controversy,” she said. “What I knew was that I did my all and the rest was history, so to speak.”

Jae is now among the nine to slug it out in the final night of the contest on June 2 at the Big Dome.

Who won’t be interested in the Pl-million prize in cash, a house and lot from Avida Land Corporation, one year recording contract with GMA Records, an Informatics scholarship, plus P50,000 worth of wardrobe from Pepe Herrera and Edwin Tan?

The nine finalists also did an album that includes some of the best songs they rendered in the past episodes and is now out for public consumption.

Titled “Pinoy Pop Superstar Year 3,” the finalists’ album is a 17-track with an inspiring original song by Gloria Estefan, “Reach” in a harmoniously blended pop rendition.

Aside from Jae of San Francisco, the other eight who did good performances (although, not all have good looks) are Joyce Tanana (Pampanga), Marvin Gagarin (Nueva Ecija), Jennie Escalada (Noavotas), Maricris Garcia (Caloocan City), April delos Santos (Pampanga), Miguel Naranjilla (Malabon City), Bryan Temulo (Bulacan), and Louie Abaigar (Olongapo City).

April delos Santos, pinakamalakas sa Pinoy Pop Superstar finalists

AS far as performance is concerned, pinakamalakas si April delos Santos among the Pinoy Pop Superstar grand finalists.

Also the youngest at 18, si April, who represents Mexico, Pampanga, ang nakatanggap ng pinakamalakas na palak-pakan during the press launch of the PPS 3 grand finalists. She sang one of Beyonce’s song sa pelikulang Dream Girls and she did not flat out or overreached any note. To think she’s a Nursing student ha while the others conservatory of music ang kinukuha.

Will it be another girl this time para girl boy girl ang pattern ng PPS?

Anyways, kung sino man ang susunod kina Jonalyn Viray and Gerald Santos stands to win P1 million cash, a house and lot mula sa Avida Land Corporation, one-year recording contract sa GMA Records, one-year management contract sa GMA-7 and much more.

Sa June 2 ang Grand Showdown sa Araneta Coliseum.

Sarah Geronimo, speaking of Little Big Superstar

Yet, aniya, when she graduated from high school at the Angelicum College, naging memorable ang nabanggit na okasyon para sa kanya.

Halimbawa, sina Joshua, Ronald at Trina did a mock number with best friend Maja Salvador at Denise Laurel, who are both cast in Pedro Penduko at ang mga Engkanto.

Sarah is also determined na ipagpatuloy ang kanyang pag-a-aral sa college. Si Senator Ed Angara, whose reelection bid Sarah is supporting, promised the singer na tutulungan siyang makapasok sa Open University ng U.P., kung saan kasalukuyan ding nag-a-aral si Sharon Cuneta.

* * *

Speaking of Little Big Superstar, ’di pa man mahulaan (dahil pawang magagaling sila) kung sino kina Trina, Ronald at Joshua ang tatanghaling Little Big Superstar, the two boys are already on the fast train to stardom, wika nga.

Ronald will start taping an episode for Maalaala Mo Kaya. Magkakaroon din si Joshua ng role sa upcoming fantaseryeng Lastikman, which will have Vhong Navarro in the title role.

Little Big Superstar is aired Saturdays after Star Magic Presents: Abt Ur Luv.

* * *

Kaya, we deserve a future na magara at kapaki-pakinabang,” tukoy pa ni Sarah. Source.
